Lawn Mower

Our landlord stopped by this morning to arrange for a plasterer to repair bathroom ceiling damaged by a roof leak. He also brought along with him his lawn mover.  The sign is as clear as the nose on his face:  the lawn is in desperate need of trimming.  One more week along with a heavy downpour of the wet season rain would ultimately envelop the house with overgrown grass.

B, our gardener, is still in the Philippines and no one knows when he is returning or when he would be able to fit us in his overbooked lawn mowing schedule.  I was speechless when hubby confidently assured the landlord that he will be able to complete the task that afternoon.

What was he talking about?  In our 15 years together, I have only seen him mow the lawn once.   Was he trying to impress our landlord?  ‘That was quick’,  I told myself when the lawn mower’s noise stopped after half an hour. Hubby has a lot of explaining to do to our landlord — he broke the lawn mover. Lucky, hey?
